Golan Says New Government Could Bring Four More Democrats Candidates Into Knesset

Yair Golan said on Friday that forming a new government could also give the Democrats an opportunity to expand their team in the Knesset. In a statement setting out his aims for the coming weeks, he named Moshe Radman, Somaya Bashir, Nimrod Sheffer and Moran Zer Katzenstein as people he wants to bring into parliament. He presented that prospect alongside his party’s effort to establish a government of change. Golan described forming such a government as the Democrats’ most important and urgent task. He said the coming weeks would require hard work and pledged to pursue every avenue to fulfil what he called the voters’ wishes. His statement linked that task to the possibility of expanding the party’s parliamentary team, rather than announcing that the four people he named had already entered the Knesset. Explaining his support for them, Golan said they had led and participated in the struggle for democracy, taken to the streets and persevered through difficult periods. He argued that people who had served that cause outside parliament deserved the opportunity to continue doing so inside it. Golan concluded: “We have a lot more work to do.” He said his party did not intend to stop.
