Herzog Hosts Annual Olive Harvest With Students and Gaza-Border Mill

President Isaac Herzog said on November 2 that the annual olive harvest in the President’s Residence garden had brought together students from Adam V’Adama high school at Kfar Silver and staff from the Shaar HaNegev olive mill. His account described a completed gathering without specifying its date. Herzog called the encounter “particularly symbolic and moving.” He connected the mill’s participation with the Gaza-border region’s return to productive activity after October 7, describing people working the land and cultivating life in a place that had endured the attack. The harvest paired the young participants with people involved in olive production. The students’ school has its own agricultural background. A May 2020 announcement described the expansion of the Adam V’Adama network to Nitzanim in cooperation with Kfar Silver. The announced program combined agricultural work, studies toward a full matriculation certificate and values-based education for pupils in grades 9 through 12. That announcement described both residential and day-study arrangements, including for local students. Its educational model combined morning agricultural work with core academic subjects and enrichment activities. The network’s then-director, Amit Meir, presented the Kfar Silver expansion as bringing together assistance to southern farmers, personal achievement and communal life.
