Boy George Visits October 7 Survivor Rachel Edri in Ofakim
British singer Boy George visited October 7 survivor Rachel Edri at her home in Ofakim on Tuesday evening, November 3, during a tour of southern Israel. The Culture Club frontman embraced Edri as they met, ahead of the concerts scheduled during his visit to Israel. Edri expressed her appreciation for the encounter, and Boy George replied, "God bless you." Ofakim Mayor Itzik Danino welcomed the visit. He thanked Edri and her son Evyatar for hosting the singer and sharing their family's story, and thanked Boy George for listening and supporting the city and its residents. On October 7, 2023, five Hamas terrorists held Edri and her husband David in their home. She used conversation, food and drink to buy time while information reached the forces outside. Their son Evyatar, a police officer familiar with the house, helped the forces, and Yamam officers rescued the couple alive. Earlier on Tuesday, Boy George visited the Nova memorial near Re'im with Sylvan Adams, representatives of the Tribe of Nova Community Association, survivors, former hostages and a bereaved father. His concert schedule includes a November 4 appearance with Ivri Lider and a November 7 appearance with Offer Nissim. The visit also follows his solidarity song "We Will Dance Again."
