District Committee Approves 1,060 Homes and 250-Room Hotel in Dimona

The Southern District Planning and Building Committee approved a plan for approximately 1,060 homes and a 250-room hotel in Dimona on November 4. The Housing Ministry's Narkisim Quarter combines apartment buildings and detached homes with local commerce, schools and public and community facilities. Housing Ministry director-general Yehuda Morgenstern said, “Approval of the plan is another step in expanding the housing supply.” The ministry expects the homes to be marketed during 2026. The approval concerns the planning framework; no exact marketing opening date or construction timetable was stated. The quarter covers approximately 650 dunams east of Neve Horesh and Yitzhak Shamir Street, north of the Ayalim student village. Apartment buildings and commercial frontages are planned along its ring road, while detached homes are placed around the outer edges. Education, public and community facilities are concentrated in the central part of the neighborhood, with public transport connections and cycle routes included in the plan. The design also provides for shaded streets, viewpoints, a nature park and connections to walking trails, alongside conservation measures near the Narkisim reserve. Mayor Benny Biton welcomed the approval and linked the additional housing and hotel site to Dimona's residential and tourism development. Morgenstern connected the plan to the city's umbrella development agreement.
