Meuhedet Adds Children's Day Treatment at Reem Medical Center in Rehovot

Meuhedet's Reem Medical Center in Rehovot is offering a dedicated children's day-treatment service for procedures requiring several hours of medical supervision. The service, described in a report published on November 5, provides prolonged treatments, medication infusions and diagnostic tests in a community setting. The report says it has begun operating but does not specify an opening date. Treatments include biological medicines for inflammatory bowel disease and chronic rheumatological conditions, as well as iron, steroid and antibody infusions prescribed by the treating doctor. The center also conducts investigations of growth, hormones and gland function. Some tests involve administering a substance and taking repeated blood samples while the child remains under observation. Dr. Shay Galor, the center's medical director, said the service brings complex care into the community that previously often required a hospital day-treatment unit. In a translated remark, he said: "The treatment is individually tailored to each child's medical condition." He described care provided by a multidisciplinary team, with continuity of treatment among its aims. Access is for Meuhedet members and requires a medical referral, a review of suitability under the treatment protocols and advance coordination. Staff contact parents after receiving the referral and provide preparation instructions. Center manager Ronit Barzovsky described support beginning with scheduling and preparation at home, continuing through treatment and discharge on the same day. The center lists *5361 for information and coordination.
