Maccabi Tel Aviv Reportedly Reaches Agreement With Pierria Henry
Maccabi Tel Aviv has reportedly reached an agreement with guard Pierria Henry as it seeks to strengthen its backcourt following Iffe Lundberg's injury. The 33-year-old is expected to arrive in Israel next week, although the reported agreement does not mean he can immediately return to competitive basketball. The planned arrival would allow Henry to undergo medical examinations and start training with the team while he waits to become eligible to play. Maccabi has lost six consecutive games across competitions, and the move would bring back a player who previously worked with coach Oded Kattash at Hapoel Eilat during the 2016–17 season. FIBA's official sanctions register lists Henry as serving a 48-month suspension that ends on 13 January 2027. The recorded violation is use of a prohibited method under Article 2.2 of FIBA's anti-doping rules. The register identifies him as Pierria Lee-Vaughntay Henry and lists Senegal and the United States as his nationalities. Negotiations were reported earlier on Saturday, before the later report that an agreement had been reached. Henry's career has also included UNICS Kazan, Baskonia and Fenerbahçe. He earned regular-season EuroCup MVP honors with UNICS and won domestic championships with Baskonia and Fenerbahçe. His immediate next steps are the reported arrival, medical examinations and training, ahead of the suspension's January expiry.
