Ashdod Sets Municipal Storm Readiness at Level 2, Plans Extra Dawn Crews

Ashdod municipality declared readiness level 2 after an evening assessment on November 7 and planned a reinforced deployment of municipal crews at 05:00 on November 8. The city was preparing for further rain while teams continued working into the evening. The municipality reported that 91 millimeters of rain had fallen that morning, including about 60 millimeters within 90 minutes. It said 99% of the city's streets and routes had remained open. Those figures describe the municipality's account of the morning conditions; the evening assessment and the additional dawn deployment were the subsequent service decisions. The deployed municipal teams included security personnel, inspectors, parking enforcement staff, municipal policing, neighborhood administrations and other work crews. They were working and patrolling across the city as preparations continued for the next part of the rain system. The reinforced early-morning deployment was intended to prepare municipal services for the rain's continuation. The city described a network of roughly 625 streets, more than 11,000 drainage inlets and about 150 kilometers of underground water-conveyance infrastructure. Its account also identified Ashdod's river, dunes and beaches as features considered in preparations for extreme weather. The stated next operational step was the 05:00 reinforcement.
