Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan to Sign Joint Defense Pact in Jeddah

Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan are set to sign a joint defense agreement in Jeddah on Friday, August 7, according to a source close to the Saudi military and two regional sources briefed on the talks. Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and army chief Field Marshal Asim Munir arrived in the kingdom on Thursday for a visit running through Saturday, while Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is due to arrive Friday. Riyadh and Islamabad are already bound by a mutual defense pact signed in September 2025 that treats an attack on one as an attack on both. Pakistan possesses nuclear weapons, and that accord drew speculation over possible nuclear cooperation.
