Tax Authority Presses Yeshivas Over Draft-Status Tax Breaks

The Tax Authority sent weekend letters to dozens of yeshivas and Torah institutions with Section 46 donor-tax approvals. Institutions must declare that students have regularized their military status, submit student lists and ID numbers, and avoid accepting future students who have not regularized their status; noncompliance could cost donor tax benefits. This is a serious pressure point in the Haredi draft fight. Israel needs more service paths and honest compliance, but enforcement should respect Torah learning, due process and families who live by yeshiva discipline.
