Cabinet Eases Licensing for Immigrant Psychologists
The cabinet on July 5 approved a Health Ministry and Aliyah Ministry plan to ease licensing for new immigrants who studied psychology abroad. Led by Health Minister Haim Katz and Aliyah and Integration Minister Ofir Sofer, the decision lets professional committees weigh foreign degrees, clinical training and experience more flexibly while preserving Israeli legal and professional standards. About 50 psychologists worldwide have applied this year to make aliyah and practice. Israel can now review credentials before arrival, strengthening mental-health care after October 7 while honoring Jewish return and patient safety.
