Gazans in Israel Turn Themselves In to Return to Gaza
Israeli security officials are seeing a rise in Gazans who entered Israel before October 7 for work permits or medical treatment and are now turning themselves in to security forces so they can return to the Strip. Hebrew reports said more than 200 have done so in recent weeks, including 46 who presented themselves this week at a Samaria crossing and were transferred back to Gaza. Defense officials assess many lost the housing, work or financial support they had received from Palestinians in Judea and Samaria during the war. The same reports said Israel still estimates hundreds to thousands of Gazans may remain in Israel and Judea and Samaria, leaving the defense establishment to manage screening and return requests.
