Lebanon Pilot-Zone Implementation Moves Within Days

A U.S. military delegation will arrive in Beirut within days to coordinate field implementation of Lebanon's agreed pilot zones, Ambassador Michel Issa told President Joseph Aoun on Thursday. The mechanism would launch work in areas where Lebanese forces are expected to assume control as part of the U.S.-sponsored Israel-Lebanon framework. A U.S. official separately said the first zone would launch in a matter of days, while further zones are being mapped. Israel's security condition remains central: Israeli officials say forces will stay in a southern security zone as long as Hezbollah remains armed, so any pullback must be tied to verifiable displacement of Iran's proxy.
