Lebanese President Arrives in Washington for Trump Talks

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun arrived at Joint Base Andrews near Washington ahead of talks with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House. Lebanon's ambassador to the United States, Nada Muawad, and embassy staff met him at the base. Aoun is scheduled to meet Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Sunday and Trump on Tuesday, along with senators and administration officials. The visit comes amid continuing tensions between Israel and Iran-backed Hezbollah, despite U.S.-brokered ceasefire arrangements, and after Israel and Lebanon agreed that Israeli troops would leave two southern areas before the next round of negotiations.
