Israeli and Egyptian Officers Hold Cairo Gaza Strategy Talks

Senior Israeli and Egyptian military officers held Cairo meetings over the past two days or past few days, with reports describing a strategic dialogue on shared regional interests. The talks focused on advancing the next stage of President Donald Trump's Gaza plan and reconstruction track while Hamas still refuses to disarm. Reports said Israel's defense establishment sees Egypt as a preferred mediation channel because Cairo is taking a tougher line toward Hamas than Turkey or Qatar and is willing to receive surrendered weapons. The meetings add state-to-state security coordination to the Gaza phase-two track as mediators work on a framework that does not leave Hamas armed.
