Mamdani Calls Jewish Favorability Lead Over Netanyahu 'Great'
New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani called the result 'great' when asked about an AP-NORC survey showing 44% of U.S. Jewish adults viewed him favorably, compared with 32% for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The June 11-17 survey of 1,022 Jewish adults found 39% viewed Mamdani unfavorably and 59% viewed Netanyahu unfavorably, leaving the anti-Israel mayor net positive in the sample while Netanyahu was deeply underwater. Mamdani said Jewish residents should feel safe, cherished and celebrated. The exchange sharpens a diaspora public-diplomacy challenge after October 7, as Jewish security and Israel's legitimacy remain central communal tests.
