Iran Warns Regional Cooperation Risks Wider War Over Hormuz

Iran's Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters warned Monday that it would not allow the United States to participate in managing the Strait of Hormuz. The command said cooperation by regional countries had increased the risk that the conflict would spread across the region. It said any regional government cooperating with or providing logistical support to U.S. forces would be treated as waging war against Iran's sovereignty and national security. It threatened a forceful response to U.S. military interference with commercial shipping and oil-tanker traffic outside Iran-designated lanes and without Iranian military permission. The warning followed President Donald Trump's declaration that Washington would control and manage the waterway for payment.
