Israel Police said a 16-year-old Palestinian from Nahalin admitted that he approached Neve Daniel in Gush Etzion intending to stab the first IDF soldier he encountered and die as a “martyr.” A civilian security coordinator and IDF troops detained him Saturday night after a suspected infiltration, when he initially said he was searching for water. Investigators said the teenager retraced his route Monday and led officers to a kitchen knife hidden beneath a metal bench, which he had taken from his home. He remains in custody, and police plan to seek an extension of his remand.
