Court Sentences Shai Blum to 10 Years for Killing His Adopted Son

The Central District Court in Lod sentenced Shai Blum to 10 years in prison Wednesday for killing his adopted son, Omri, after convicting him under a plea agreement of manslaughter under diminished responsibility. Court records say Blum asked to speak with Omri during a visit from his residential facility, and both went armed to a nearby grove. Blum shot him nine times and then stabbed him in the heart. The judges approved the agreement while saying the negotiated punishment did not fully exhaust the law, and the court also ordered 50,000 shekels in compensation to Omri's biological mother.
