U.S. Sanctions 10 People, 24 Entities and 20 Ships Tied to Iran

The U.S. Treasury sanctioned 10 people, 24 entities and 20 vessels tied to Mohammad Hossein Shamkhani’s shipping and sanctions-evasion network on Tuesday. Treasury said the network remains a major force behind Iranian oil exports and has expanded into container shipping and commodities trading, including movements benefiting the Iran-backed Houthis. The action covers financiers, logistics operators, shipping companies and vessels across several jurisdictions. OFAC also issued General License Z, allowing limited wind-down, safety, environmental and cargo-offloading transactions through September 12, while barring new commercial contracts with the blocked parties.
