Bat Yam Teen Arrested Over Japanika Grenade Attack

Police arrested an 18-year-old Bat Yam resident Thursday night on suspicion that he threw a fragmentation grenade at a Japanika restaurant in Kiryat Ono early July 13. Investigators described him as the first suspect detained for allegedly carrying out one of the attacks, rather than broader involvement in the wave. He was due at Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court on Friday for a remand hearing. Reports link the attacks to a suspected dispute between the Mosley and Jarushi crime organizations; police have increased visible and undercover patrols near branches while continuing to investigate, and no guilt has been established.
