CENTCOM Rejects Iran Claim of U.S. Troops Killed or Captured at al-Tanf

U.S. Central Command rejected an Iranian claim Friday that Tehran's forces attacked al-Tanf Garrison in Syria and killed or captured American troops. CENTCOM called the claim false and said no U.S. troops in the region had recently been killed or captured. Iran's Revolutionary Guards had claimed a surprise strike killed a large number of American personnel and destroyed a radar system and several helicopters. A Syrian military source said projectiles landed near al-Tanf but missed the base, causing no casualties or material damage, while U.S. forces had completed their withdrawal from the garrison in February.
