Havat Gilad Evacuated as Wildfire Burns Homes

A fast-moving wildfire entered Havat Gilad from the Kedumim area on Saturday, burning several homes in the community's first row and prompting the evacuation of all residents. Firefighters and volunteers from the Judea and Samaria district and neighboring districts were deployed as strong winds drove the flames across the first line of homes. Elad Squadron firefighting aircraft joined the response while police assisted evacuations and directed traffic. Route 55 was closed westbound from the Jit junction as an evacuation route, and police asked the public to follow instructions and stay away from the area.
