Iran Executes Mehdi Khaneki Over Alleged Aid to Israel and U.S.

Iran executed Mehdi Khaneki after its Supreme Court upheld his death sentence, the judiciary announced Wednesday. Iranian authorities alleged that Khaneki carried out operational activity benefiting Israel, the United States and hostile groups during January's anti-regime uprising. They said police intelligence arrested him in Karaj and found pistols, ammunition, homemade grenades, explosive devices and bomb-making materials at his residence. The judiciary also said Khaneki admitted learning to make explosives and receiving cryptocurrency funds; the allegations and legal process were not independently verified.
