Iran Activates Air Defenses Over Tehran as Officials Deny Capital Strike

Iranian state media said air-defense batteries activated over Tehran early Wednesday as residents reported explosions around the capital. Iranian reports described the systems as engaging "hostile targets," while officials denied that Tehran itself had been struck and city firefighters attributed one blast at a Narmak residence to a gas leak. A separate report said the capital was believed to have been targeted for the first time since U.S.-Iran fighting resumed on July 7. The activity came during the eleventh consecutive night of U.S. strikes on Iran, leaving the cause of the wider Tehran air-defense response unresolved.
