Teachers and Treasury Agree on War-Day Pay and Four Replacement Hours
Israel's Secondary School Teachers Organization reached an agreement with the Finance Ministry canceling a planned one-day salary deduction for June 8, when schools were closed during the Iran war. In exchange, high-school teachers will provide four unpaid replacement or student-support hours during the coming school year. Union chairman Ran Erez said teachers had continued preparing pupils for matriculation exams online despite the closure and cited the teacher shortage in accepting the compromise. The agreement makes the declared labor dispute unnecessary, meaning the union will not strike or disrupt classes until further notice.
