Trump Says U.S. Lost 18 Service Members in Four-Month Iran Conflict
President Donald Trump said 18 U.S. service members have died during the four-month military conflict with Iran. In a social-media post, he compared that toll with 2,000 deaths over 20 years in Afghanistan and 4,600 over nine years in Iraq. He also listed 58,220 deaths over 19 years and five months in Vietnam, 36,574 over three years and one month in Korea, and zero deaths in the one-day Venezuela conflict. His comparison came after recent U.S. announcements of additional military deaths in Jordan and Iraq as renewed fighting with Iran intensified.
