Iranian FM Calls U.S. Asset-Seizure Threat an 'Incendiary' Precedent

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi called President Donald Trump's pledge to use frozen Iranian assets for damage to ships and cargo in the Strait of Hormuz an “incendiary precedent.” He said confiscating one country's assets to cover unrelated future claims would leave no nation's funds safe. Araghchi warned that normalizing confiscation would produce chaos that would not be peaceful. Trump said Thursday that Iranian money under U.S. control would cover losses tied to attacks on maritime traffic, after Iran targeted vessels in the strategic waterway.
