Israel Electric Warns Customers About Fake Refund Texts

Israel Electric Corporation warned customers Friday after receiving reports in recent hours of text messages impersonating the utility. The messages falsely tell recipients they are entitled to a refund and direct them to an external link to claim it. The company said the texts are fraudulent and urged customers not to click the link or provide personal information, passwords, or credit-card details. It reported the scam attempt to the relevant authorities; earlier alerts about the same tactic said authentic company messages include the customer’s contract number and direct users only to the official website.
