Jerusalem District police and Border Police launched a focused operation in East Jerusalem and nearby communities along the security barrier after matriculation-exam results were released. Police said officers confronted rioters firing fireworks and used crowd-control measures, including gas canisters, to restore public order and protect residents and security personnel. Officers also enforced the law against vehicles used with pyrotechnic devices. Two East Jerusalem residents, ages 17 and 24, were arrested on suspicion of possessing and using fireworks.
