Israel Readied for Iran Strike Before Trump Extended Diplomacy

Israeli officials prepared for a major strike on Iran overnight from Friday to Saturday, expecting President Donald Trump to order an attack, according to a new report. As the hours passed, Jerusalem concluded that Trump had paused the operation to give Tehran another opportunity for diplomacy. Iran reported no U.S. strikes overnight, ending 13 consecutive nights of attacks, while Trump said he had not decided on a major escalation and that talks were continuing. Israeli officials nevertheless assessed that the interim U.S.-Iran memorandum had collapsed and that prospects for a permanent agreement were near zero.
