Israeli Officers Detail How Hamas Intelligence Chief Mapped IDF Weaknesses

Israeli intelligence and Southern Command officers disclosed that Mohammed Odeh built Hamas's military-intelligence collection system that studied IDF movements and vulnerabilities for years before the October 7 massacre. They said he ordered observers at posts, some under 100 meters from the border, to record every military movement and later expanded the network with cameras and other technology. The material helped Hamas identify breach points and estimate Israeli response times, while Odeh later directed wartime intelligence and operational planning. The officers said a months-long IDF and Shin Bet hunt produced a location breakthrough, enabling the strike that killed him 10 days after he became Hamas's military commander.
