Government Requests Knesset Recess Session for Eight Urgent Bills

Government Secretary Yossi Fuchs formally asked Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana to convene an exceptional plenum sitting during the election recess for eight urgent legislative matters. The package includes extensions of emergency regulations limiting security detainees' access to lawyers and allowing longer detention for security suspects. It also includes final readings on capital-market legislation and a 2026 economic-plan provision concerning municipal law, plus a first reading on permanent-service pensions. The request relies on Section 9(b) of the Knesset Law, which permits government-requested recess sittings.
