Bennett Vows to Designate Qatar an Enemy State as Prime Minister

Courtroom-sketch editorial illustration of Naftali Bennett gesturing with both hands at a national security conference

Former prime minister Naftali Bennett said at a national security conference that, if returned to office, he would immediately designate Qatar an enemy state. Bennett said intelligence he reviewed showed Qatar financed Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, and said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also knew of it. He urged Israel to accelerate the fall of Iran's regime and block Tehran's nuclear program under his "octopus doctrine," which targets the state directing regional proxies. Bennett also named Gadi Eisenkot, Avigdor Liberman and the Zionist opposition as natural partners for a future government, while excluding Netanyahu.
