Ben Gvir Calls Trump Naive, Rejects Diplomacy With Iran

Courtroom-sketch editorial illustration of Itamar Ben Gvir raising one finger during a national security conference interview

National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir told the National Security Conference on Monday that Israel should do more against Iran. He said he hoped President Donald Trump would abandon what Ben Gvir called naivety on the Iranian issue, describing Trump as a businessman who remains very naive about Tehran. Ben Gvir rejected diplomacy with Iran and said there was no point talking with its leaders. He said dealings with Iran should instead be conducted ‘through the sights,’ presenting military pressure as his alternative to negotiations.
