Israel Releases 60 Gaza Detainees Through Kerem Shalom

Courtroom-sketch editorial illustration of released Gaza detainees arriving by bus as relatives and bystanders gather around the vehicle

Israel released 60 detainees from Gaza on Monday and transferred them through the Kerem Shalom crossing. The International Committee of the Red Cross facilitated their transport to Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis and helped reunite them with relatives. Israeli security officials said the group came from Ofer Prison and the Sde Teiman detention facility, and that none were classified as terrorists after investigations against them were closed. The release was the largest single transfer since the October 2025 ceasefire exchanges, though it was part of Israel’s periodic release mechanism rather than a newly negotiated exchange round.
