Fires Hit Two LNG Vessels at Egypt's Damietta Port; Drone Cause Unconfirmed

An explosion and fire hit a liquefied natural gas facility at Egypt's Damietta port on Wednesday evening. Maritime services company Inchcape said two floating gas-storage vessels caught fire, while security firm Ambrey said one of the vessels was U.S.-owned. Two security sources said the vessels may have been struck by drones, but no official authority had confirmed an attack or identified a responsible party. Iranian state television had named Damietta two days earlier as a possible retaliation target against Ukrainian interests after Ukraine's weekend strike on an Iranian vessel in the Caspian Sea.
