Israeli From Classified Unit Charged Over Iranian Intelligence Contact

An Israeli citizen who served in both compulsory and reserve duty in a classified unit has been charged with contact with a foreign agent and attempting to provide information for the enemy's benefit. Investigators from Malmab's Arzim central unit and the Shin Bet said he communicated with a person who identified himself as an Iranian intelligence official. He was also asked to help recruit another soldier to contact those operatives. The State Attorney's Cyber Department filed the indictment in Tel Aviv District Court on July 16, and the court allowed the case's existence to be published Wednesday while other details remain under gag order.
