Galila Ron-Feder Amit Leads Israel’s Public-Library Loans With 261,000

Newly released 2024 public-library data show Galila Ron-Feder Amit led Israeli authors with 261,000 loans. Her books include the enduring youth series Ginger, Time Tunnel and To Myself; she received NIS 18,000, the state payment ceiling, equivalent to about seven agorot per loan. Avraham Ohayon, a prolific Haredi author of books and comics, placed second with 181,000 loans, while Haredi educator and children’s author Menucha Fuchs ranked third with 91,000. Hatzlacha, which obtained the figures through a freedom-of-information request, said the sampling method, NIS 18,000 cap and lack of public transparency warrant wider discussion.
