U.S. Central Command said forces began new strikes on Iran at 8 p.m. Eastern time Wednesday, describing them as a powerful response to Iran's attempted attacks on U.S. forces in the Middle East. Iranian state media then reported missile attacks around Abadan, an airstrike on Qeshm Island, and explosions in Bushehr. By 4:46 a.m. Israel time, Iranian television was also reporting heavy explosions in Ahvaz, extending the reported strike geography across southern and southwestern Iran. Initial reports did not identify all targets or provide a complete damage or casualty assessment, though two people were reported injured on Qeshm.
