Regev Rejects Spanish Claims Linking Israel to Ceuta Migrant Crisis

Transportation Minister Miri Regev rejected efforts by Spanish officials and commentators to link Israel to the mass migration crisis in Ceuta, telling Spanish Transport Minister Óscar Puente that Spain's problem was its own policy, not Israel. Puente had reposted UN Ambassador Danny Danon's criticism of Madrid and wrote that events were starting to become clear, while other Spanish figures circulated claims of Israeli involvement without presenting evidence. Danon had criticized Spain's immigration policy and its continued control of Ceuta and Melilla. Tens of thousands of migrants crossed from Morocco into Ceuta, prompting Italy to suspend Schengen arrangements with Spain.
