President Donald Trump said during a televised Cabinet meeting at Camp David that Secretary of State Marco Rubio's initiative to bring the International Criminal Court to heel was intended to defend Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and others. The remarks explicitly linked the administration's ICC pressure campaign to protecting the Israeli leader. The administration has argued that the court improperly targeted both the United States and Israel and rejected its arrest warrants for Netanyahu and former defense minister Yoav Gallant as baseless.
