IDF Officials Urge Bar Kalifa to Decline Katz’s Command Appointment

IDF officials said Maj. Gen. Dado Bar Kalifa should decline Defense Minister Israel Katz's appointment of him as the next Central Command chief, arguing the live announcement was uncoordinated and outside the minister's authority. The officials said Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir has no current intention of replacing Maj. Gen. Avi Bluth, whose departure date has not been set. Bar Kalifa had earlier expressed reservations about the post and hoped to become the prime minister's military secretary. Beit El council head Shai Alon also urged Katz to reverse the move, praising Bluth's leadership and security record in Judea and Samaria.
