Defense Minister Israel Katz formally approved Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir’s recommendation to appoint Maj. Gen. David “Dado” Bar Kalifa as the next head of IDF Central Command. Bar Kalifa, who currently leads the Manpower Directorate, is due to assume command in 2027, subject to the operational assessment. Maj. Gen. Avi Bluth will complete his term as planned. The approval follows Katz’s August 2 announcement of Bar Kalifa for the role, which the IDF said at the time had not been coordinated with Zamir while Bluth retained full confidence.
