Trump Calls Iran's Leadership Duplicitous as Tehran Denies U.S. Talks

U.S. President Donald Trump called Iran's leadership "unbelievably duplicitous" after Tehran publicly denied holding talks with Washington and said its discussions were only with Oman about temporary safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. Trump said Iranian officials had asked for a meeting, talks had begun and more were scheduled. He maintained that the negotiations cover preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons and fully reopening the strategic waterway. The clash came a day after Trump said he had held off on major new strikes to give diplomacy more time following appeals from Gulf leaders and unnamed Iranian officials.
