Gulf Shipping Stays Constrained as U.S.-Iran Talks Remain Uncertain

Ship-tracking data showed Gulf chokepoint traffic remained constrained at the start of the week as the status of U.S.-Iran talks stayed unclear. Kpler counted six vessels crossing the Strait of Hormuz on Monday, down from seven Sunday, while 20 vessels used Bab el-Mandeb, unchanged from the prior day. Separate Sunday data from Kpler and MarineTraffic recorded nine Hormuz transits and 30 Bab el-Mandeb crossings. Iran said no negotiations or meetings were scheduled, while President Donald Trump had said he was delaying new attacks pending talks. Shipping risk remained elevated amid the continuing U.S.-Iran conflict and Houthi threats to Saudi-linked vessels.
