IDF Warns Syria Border Crossings Are Worsening and Diverting Forces

IDF officials warn that repeated civilian crossings from Israel into southern Syria are growing more serious, diverting troops from defensive missions and harming operational readiness. A security official said some incidents appear carefully planned, including nighttime entries at different points, while weak enforcement encourages repeat attempts. The military has detained border-crossers, returned them to Israel and transferred them to police after attempts in recent weeks involving dozens of activists. The IDF says the unlawful actions endanger civilians and soldiers and compromise ongoing operations.
