IDF Stops Civilians Attempting to Cross Into Syria Near Mount Hermon

Courtroom-sketch editorial illustration of a civilian walking toward a yellow metal barrier on a rocky Mount Hermon border road

IDF troops stopped several Israeli civilians who reached the Mount Hermon area on Wednesday intending to cross the border into Syria. The military said the force at the site blocked their advance, detained them and transferred them to Israel Police. The IDF condemned the incident as another serious disruption of operational activity along the border and said illegal crossing endangers both civilians and soldiers. It called on law-enforcement agencies to exhaust legal proceedings against those involved and act firmly to end a recurring phenomenon that, according to the military, repeatedly harms troop operations.
