IDF Probe Finds Syria Border Crossings Diverted Troops and Endangered Forces

An IDF inquiry found that five Israeli civilians crossed from the Majdal Shams area into Syria on Thursday night, split up and hid near Khadr. Troops searched through the night and Friday morning before soldiers from Brigade 228 located all five near the border Friday evening and transferred them to police. The IDF said forces prevented additional attempted crossings in the southern Golan over the weekend. It warned that the rising incidents divert attention from operational missions, endanger civilians and troops, and constitute criminal offenses, while calling on law enforcement to act firmly.
