High Court Presses for Nursing Home Polling Solutions Before Election

Israel's High Court criticized the Knesset for not providing dedicated polling stations in nursing homes and assisted-living facilities for the upcoming election, but questioned whether judges could impose an arrangement lawmakers declined to enact. Supreme Court President Isaac Amit said the system used in the previous two elections had worked perfectly. The Central Elections Committee told the court it had contacted about 290 facilities, with 65 agreeing to host regular regional polling stations and 56 objecting. The committee must decide by August 18, and the court will rule separately on three petitions.
