Elections Committee Tells High Court It Recommended 159 Nursing Home Ballot Boxes

The Central Elections Committee told the High Court on Monday that its professional staff recommended placing ballot boxes in 159 of the 290 nursing homes and assisted living facilities surveyed, those that agreed to the conditions and were found suitable. The committee said 127 of them met accessibility requirements, and that mobility-limited voters will be able to cast ballots there if the committee plenum approves. It added that the accessibility review of the remaining recommended homes has not been completed. The update came on the deadline the court set on August 11, after the Knesset declined to mandate the arrangement in the elections law ahead of the October 27 election.
